Youtube Channel CBI Organic coffee Rwanda: Compost

Compost 4 episodes ( Kinyarwanda)

Compost Stories from Rwanda

This series of four videos was produced in Kinyarwanda to share simple composting techniques with local farmers.
Besides the training, this project brought me a new challenge — directing the local trainers (our actors) in front of the camera. I developed the scripts and dialogues, directed the scenes, and helped with the editing — all for the first time, and in a local language.

Thanks to the incredible video crew and to my translator and friend Jean D’Amour from Abakundakawa for making it possible.
I hope these videos inspire Rwandan coffee farmers — and all farmers — to make compost in a land full of both potential and challenges.

This project was funded by CBI of the Netherlands

Project Organic Coffee in Rwanda

In partnership with Sustainable Growers Rwanda and CBI in The Netherlands we coordinated a training series across four regions of Rwanda, aiming to encompass the majority of the country. These sessions were designed to instruct young extension workers from Sustainable Growers. Following a week of training, we created a series of educational videos, serving as valuable resources for Rwandan coffee farmers regarding the production of organic inputs. The female trainers from Sustainable Growers managed to reach over four thousand farmers in just the first year.

Assess your soil (SPANISH)

Visual Soil Assessment

This short video is based on the Visual Soil Assessment by Graham Shepherd — a simple yet powerful way to read the life and structure of soil.
I’ve used this technique for years, first in the Netherlands, then across Africa. It helps farmers recognize the signs of fertility with just a look and a touch — something almost forgotten in an increasingly technical world.
Filmed here in northern Burgos, but applicable to soils everywhere.
